Prevention Specialist

Full-Time Prevention Specialist

Position Overview:

  • Represents the agency at designated local, regional and state events as requested
  • Schedules and participates in community presentations, health fairs, etc.
  • Assists program director with project implementation
  • Monitors and evaluates coalition programs, including data entry into the evaluation plan
  • Assists in the development of marketing materials, social media content, and media campaigns
  • Collaborates and works with community organizations to promote the coalition's mission and goals
  • Develops and facilitates community presentations focused on prescription drug misuse prevention
  • Disseminates information about coalition projects, determine potential partners

Qualifications Include:

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred 
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Community organization and facilitation experience preferred
  • Must possess knowledge of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse/misuse prevention; Training and experience in substance abuse prevention or human services preferred 
  • Able to interact with a variety of interest and cultural groups
  • Computer knowledge and proficiency required
  • Requires certification as a Certified Prevention Specialist within 18 months of hire
  • A valid driver's license with a good driving record 
  • Must pass pre-employment background checks and drug screening
