Builds a safe, comfortable and caring group atmosphere where client children learn to express feelings, to discuss drug abuse/prevention and family relationships by participating in age appropriate activities
Meets with children and/or mothers individually to provide basic information, make simple suggestions and assist with referrals as necessary
Gathers and arranges resources, materials, toys and other items needed for group activities
Coordinates volunteer coverage for the children's program as necessary
Implements and follows approved activity and lesson plans
Disciplines and guides children as necessary
Allows parents to add input on the program
Establishes and maintains good communication/relationships with parents on a daily basis
Informs fellow staff members of program goals and developments that relate to the children and parents
Requirements Include:
Requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); however, a Bachelor's degree in social work, education, child development, counseling or other closely related field is preferred
Requires at least one year of related experience in day care or early childhood education
Requires a detailed understanding of the treatment model utilized
Requires CPR, AIDS in-service hours and annual TB testing with a negative test result
Must pass pre-employment background checks, drug screening, and fingerprinting
