FT Cook

Position Overview:

  • Prepares meals for DCCCA clients following menus established by the Food Service Manager or Program Coordinator and ensures that each designated meal is served on time
  • Maintains hygiene standards in the kitchen and dining room area in agreement with all applicable state and local regulations
  • Places food and supply shipments in the designated location and notifies the Program Coordinator of food or supply shortages
  • Transfers shipments of food and supplies from work to storage areas
  • Carries pans and trays of food to and from workstations, stoves and refrigerators
  • Cleans work areas, equipment, pots, pans, trays and utensils
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of clients who assist with meal preparation, clean-up and unpacking shipment orders
  • Inspects equipment for cleanliness and functional operation
  • Keeps documentation as required by the KSDE Food Service Program

Requirements Include:

  • Requires high school diploma or general education diploma (GED) 
  • Requires one year of experience in food preparation
  • Requires general knowledge of nutrition and menu planning 
  • Requires the ability to operate standard and commercial size kitchen equipment
  • Must be able to work rotating weekends/holidays
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record
