DCCCA's comprehensive continuum of substance abuse treatment and outpatient mental health counseling in Wichita offers gender-responsive and family focused services for both men and women. Located in Wichita, one of Kansas's largest metropolitan areas, DCCCA clients come primarily from Sedgwick County but are accepted from referral sources state-wide. Substance abuse treatment services include non-medical detoxification, short term intensive and extended stay residential programs, intensive outpatient modalities, outpatient counseling and primary healthcare collaboration.  Outpatient counseling for both substance use and mental health needs are facilitated for adults and adolescents via tele-health technology or in office sessions.  DCCCA's unique gender responsive program provides services to women, women with dependent children, and pregnant women. A licensed childcare, parenting, case management and mental health services are integrated into the substance abuse treatment modalities.

Full Time Therapist

Position Overview:

  • Coordinates client services ranging from assessment and treatment planning, through discharge and aftercare
  • Facilitates individual, group and family counseling sessions that promote positive interaction, encourage group socialization, group cohesiveness and unity among clients
  • Prioritizes identified problems that require resolutions, establishes goals and objectives, utilizes available resources and arrives at decisions appropriate for client treatment planning
  • Aides in client decision making by promoting positive attitudes, feelings of awareness and change and building self-esteem
  • Educates, coaches and guides clients through the process of using cognitive and behavioral skills such as thinking reports, DBT, RET, step work, etc.
  • Utilizes diagnostic interviews, behavioral observations and client reports to assess client strengths, weaknesses as well as other areas to be incorporated into treatment planning
  • Documents treatment goals and progress and completes all required treatment documentation including admissions and progress notes, periodic evaluations, treatment plans, discharge summaries, continued stay reviews, in accordance with all program and state guidelines
  • Consults with staff and other professionals as necessary before implementing recommendations to ensure quality client care 
  • Complete billing-related/utilization review activities (including communication to obtain pre-authorization, etc.)

Requirements Include:

  • Master's degree in Human Services and Master's level BSRB is required
  • Requires a LAC or LMAC; Clinical License (LCAC) preferred
  • Prior work in addictions prevention or treatment 
  • A valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • Must pass pre-employment background checks and drug screen
