Family Support Worker Lawrence

Full Time Family Support Worker

Based in Lawrence, KS but must be able to travel to Mission, KS for regular meetings

Position Overview:

  • Provides for the safety, stability and well-being of children and families during the referral period
  • Delivers and coordinates culturally competent therapeutic and case management services to children and families 
  • Facilitates family meetings within required time frames 
  • Engages and works in partnership with families to complete assessments and develop case plan goals and objectives 
  • Responds promptly to family crisis situations, documents critical incidents and is available 24/7 to clients
  • Completes an initial and on-going family assessment related to safety, stability and well-being including mental health, substance abuse, education, emotional, social and physical well-being, parenting and parent-child relationships
  • Assesses each child's safety with every family contact and reports all suspected child abuse/neglect Monitors family progress and service provision through the use of assessment tools, and updates family case plans based on those assessments
  • Appears and testifies in court as required
  • Provides 24 hour, 7 days a week support to staff and remains available during crisis situations

Requirements include:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Requires a minimum two years relevant experience in behavioral health or children/family services;
  • Personal experience with addictions treatment is preferred
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record 
  • Must pass pre-employment background checks, reference checks, drug screening and fingerprinting
