Part-Time

Essential Job Functions:

  • Creates a safe client environment by performing all required security and safety procedures
  • Assists in the client's orientation of treatment goals, program rules and structure
  • Submits a written incident report in the event of unusual client behavior or activity while in DCCCA's care
  • Maintains an orderly and appealing classroom that is a warm and safe environment in which children are allowed to grow, develop and explore
  • Implements programs and activities that develop the emotional, physical, intellectual and social needs of the children
  • Prepares materials, makes lesson plans based on a curriculum outline and follows approved activity plans
  • Interacts with the children on their level and encourages child involvement in activities
  • Observes, records and reports significant individual and/or group behavior
  • Allows for parent input on program activities
  • Establishes and maintains good communication with parents on a daily basis
  • Uses appropriate, positive and consistent discipline that helps to maintain classroom order
  • Maintains accurate records and files
  • Informs co-works, clinical and administrative staff of program goals/developments for children and parents
  • Assigns support staff responsibilities, changes scheduled daily activities and room arrangements as necessary
  • Discusses both positive and negative child behavior and activities with parents
  • Job may require the employee to be able to regularly drive to various DCCCA locations and other business locations throughout the day including early morning or evening hours
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Requires at least one of the following, or the ability to obtain one of the following within six months of employment:
  • A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, Certified Childcare Professional (CCP) credential, or equivalent; or
  • An associate's degree in early childhood education or child development; or
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field with two years of post-graduate experience in early childhood education
