Builds and maintains positive relationships with SAFE team sponsors and school leadership.
Recruits existing partnering schools as well as new schools to participate in SAFE.
Schedules, plans, and conducts SAFE education and training events both in-person and virtually.
Enthusiastically promotes SAFE to targeted schools. Specifically focused on high schools in Metro OKC and surrounding counties.
Represents the agency at local, regional, and state event as needed with heavier need for travel in summer and fall months for recruitment.
Collaborates with Director of OK Community Initiatives and Rural Focused OK SAFE Program Specialist to create and implement annual strategic plan.
Provides technical support to new and established SAFE teams to ensure program implementation. This includes training on zoom and utilizing sharepoint files.
Arranges SAFE educational event logistics as needed to support an annual Teen Conference and to support efforts of participating schools.
Attends SAFE education events across the state to support SAFE programming.
Travels across the metro and surrounding counties during the school year (August to May) to fulfill this position's requirements. Travel will be planned to ensure time utilization and budget adherence.
Authors press releases and media information on occupant protection, the SAFE program and related events, activities, and issues as necessary.
Creates newsletters and social media posts to promote the OK SAFE program.
Applies for funding from area companies and foundations to provide student prizes
Assists SAFE teams in requesting donations from local businesses to provide as student prizes
Offers technical assistance to special interest groups, provides statistics, educational materials and other information to the media and the public as requested
Prepares monthly narrative on grant activities and accomplishments and other reports as requested.
Tracks grant related activities daily and utilizes excel to track program status and activities.
Selects, develops, edits and/or designs educational materials and statewide campaign materials in Canva, MS word, and MS excel.
Job will require the employee to be able to regularly drive to schools, various DCCCA locations, and other business locations throughout the day including early morning or evening hours. Some weekend days may be required.
Education, Experience, and Licensure
Requires a bachelor's degree preferably in Communications or Marketing.
Ability to accurately document activities and create quality program reports
Able to interact with a variety of personalities and cultures
Must possess a valid state Driver's License, in force automobile liability insurance, and maintain a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets organization's insurability standard as defined by DCCCA policy. Availability of reliable transportation is required for this position.
